Humboldt State University is moving in the direction of becoming a polytechnic university.
With the university receiving an investment of 458 million dollars. It will soon become one of three polytechnic universities in California.
A polytechnic university brings more opportunities for students and faculty in S.T.E.M. and renewable energy research programs. It will also provide students with more resources on campus.
” There’s a really strong demand statewide for that hands-on experience that polytech schools have, so that formal designation really helped to bring that broader recognition and prestige to HSU. we get that opportunity to create that access, and what that also does is allows us to address the critical work gaps that exist, ” said HSU Provost, Jenn Capps
HSU will present a proposal to the state board of trustees by this fall, with a final decision expected by next spring.
