Join Sequoia Humane Society at their Annual Holiday Open House

The Sequoia Humane Society is hosting their annual “Holiday Open House.” A chance for the community to come down and have fun, enjoy food, participate in raffles, meet Santa, and maybe give a dog or kitten a forever home this holiday season.

Grants and Development Coordinator of the shelter, Liam Callis, explained the details of the event.

“There will be an event going from 12 to 3 p.m.. it’s just a small thing that we run to kind of show appreciation for our community and everything that they’ve done for us over the past year,” Callis said. “You know, people can also walk on through and see our pets and stuff and we’ll have decorations up.”

The event is free to the public and donations are always appreciated for the no-kill shelter.

“You don’t have to pay anything to get in,” Callis said. “We will be holding a small raffle as well. and to get into that, you just have to make a donation of any amount.”

Covid guidelines have been lifted, and even though the shelter is seeing more and more animals getting adopted at a faster rate now, they are always finding ways to make sure each animal is given a happy life; events like these help.

“You know, the pandemic was kind of slowing everything down a bit but yeah, it’s definitely gotten better in adoptions,” Callis said. “We’re hoping that it’ll pick up a bit more again, just because it is still kind of slow and there’s definitely no shortage of pets that need homes.”
