The Halloween season is upon us…and with that comes creative decorations.

Nick Smithler and his wife Anna are entertaining residents on G Street in Eureka with their skeleton cast.

The Smithlers have created over 80 scenes since 2020.

“We do 32 scenes any given – every October – so we start October 1st and we do a November 1st going away scene,” IT manager and skeleton decorator Smithler said.

The scenes themselves range from skeletons from decorating for the fall time, playing sports, getting a check-up, or relaxing in the sun.

Other times, the skeletons can showcase a scene straight from the movies like “Flashdance.” The plans for the ever-changing display begin in the summer.

“We actually start planning them in July during our annual camping trip and my wife and I bounce ideas off of each other and calculate how many skeletons it would take,” Smithler said. “We had two previously, and we actually purchased more for this year because we had scenes that we needed more for.”

This includes purchasing the towering viral 12 foot skeleton that oversees its other spine tingling friends.

Smithler’s display are on TikTok @thedadtech showing off his holiday displays and across social media, leading to positive feedback.

“Leading into it, we get a lot of people that send us ideas like “hey I saw this idea,” Smithler said. “Sometimes we take it and put it against the list and sometimes it gets left out, and sometimes it makes it.”

These ideas will continue to grow with each passing Halloween season. The Smithlers also decorate for the winter season with a projector and light show set to music.
