MIKE MARTIN: Hey, how are you doing, Ross? Thanks for having me.

REDWOOD NEWS: Yes, absolutely. So what am I holding here?

MIKE MARTIN That big rock is Coprolite That. That’s Jurassic. About 150 million years old. And it’s a dinosaur poop coprolites. It’s probably from a herbivore because of the. The salad looking interior. And that’s out of my collection. But I’ll have some at the show as well.

REDWOOD NEWS: The Humboldt gem, mineral and fossil show is great for kids and families.

MIKE MARTIN: Tell us this is fantastic for kids and families. As a matter of fact, Friday is kids day, so all schools and youth groups get in for free with chaperon. On Friday. And this has been going on for decades. So this is our 68th annual show.

REDWOOD NEWS: So you have games for them?

MIKE MARTIN: We have games. And and this is what people can win in the games, kids, whomever is playing the games. These are these are agate, petrified wood and so on that we polish all year just for the games.

REDWOOD NEWS Oh, that’s perfect. And so let us know what else you’ll be able to see at the show.

MIKE MARTIN Well, we have a geode cutting booth, too. This is a geode probably from Oregon. And we have different types of geodes. We have them from all over the world actually. And you can buy a geode and we’ll cut it right there for you. And you’re the first one that gets to look inside the geode. They’ll. They’ll come to you after it’s cut. Will it open like this? Are closed and open it up. So that’s and that’s a very popular booth. We have a silent auction, which is very popular to run Saturday and Sunday all day. Mm hmm. We’re going to have demonstrators. We’ve got loads and loads of cases of. Yeah. And 17 vendors with everything in lapidary, you can imagine. Jewelry, gems, rough rock, right.

REDWOOD NEWS: Displays galore.
