HCSO conducting death investigation in Southern Humboldt

GARBERVILLE, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation in Southern Humboldt.

On August 14th around noon, HCSO was contacted by an out of the area attorney about a deceased, possible gunshot victim at a property on Old Harris road in Garberville. Deputies arrived on scene and found a deceased male victim lying in the driveway of the property with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was recognized by law enforcement and identified as 38-year-old Wade Daniel Harris. Deputies located and detained a man while on scene, but he declined to provide a statement. Evidence was collected and the man was released pending further investigation.

An autopsy of Harris is schedule for August 18th. More information will be released as available and appropriate.
