Red Salmon Complex Fire continues to grow to more than 104,000 acres

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — Crews continue to battle the Red Salmon Complex Fire that’s burning just east of the Hoopa Valley Reservation. The fire has grown to about 104,000 acres and is now 28% contained.

An evacuation warning remains in effect for the Forks of Salmon, and the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests remain closed. Parts of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest have opened back up to the public.

According to planning operations Gordon Meyer, the spot fire in Methodist Creek is secure and looking good. Two engines are patrolling that spot fire. Almost 600 personnel, including 40 engines and 7 helicopters, are fighting the fire.
