Lightning Started Blazes Still Challenging Firefighters

Six Rivers National Forest – Our recent thunderstorms have ignited a number of wildfires in Six Rivers National Forest challenging firefighters.

The Young Fire in the Gasquet Ranger District is 70-acres and 0% contained. It is in a remote area of the Siskiyou Wilderness East of Gasquet. It is not threatening any structures or communities at this time.

Also, the Ruth Complex, located in the Mad River Ranger District is 653-acres and is 10% contained. The largest fire in the complex is the Dutchman Fire at

600-acres. The Secret Fire is 45-acres. Both incidents are threatening structures. All other fires in the complex are less than 5-acres. Six Rivers National Forest remains under fire restrictions.
