‘Share the Magic of Christmas’ Toy Drive kicks off

EUREKA – Humboldt Bay Professional Firefighters Local 652 needs your help to make the holidays brighter for local children in need.
Humboldt Bay Fire’s ‘Share the Magic of Christmas’ Toy Drive dates back to the 1920’s when firefighters repaired bikes and broken toys for local children.
Almost 100 years later the drive is still going strong.
Union members hope to collect 1,400 gifts this year, and they need your help to do it.
Donate a new, unwrapped toy before December 18th. Firefighters and the Salvation Army will deliver presents that week for families to wrap and put under the tree.
Toy Drive Chair And Humboldt Bay Fire Captain John Goodman said, “It’s not important that those kids know that the firefighters of their community gave them those gifts. It’s just important that they have Christmas. So that’s our goal.”
Humboldt Bay Fire will be collecting donations at the Bayshore Mall November 24-26 and at the Humboldt Artisans Crafts and Music Festival at Redwood Acres starting December 1st.
You can drop off toys at all Humboldt Bay Fire stations. Look for toy drive signs in local businesses for other donation locations.
