Trump administration proposes offshore drilling along Northern California coast

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA. – North Coast representatives come out against the President’s plan to allow off-shore drilling on the California coast.

The Trump administration shared this week they’ll push to allow oil and gas drilling on nearly all United States coasts, including Northern California waters.

North Coast Senator Mike McGuire, Congressman Jared Huffman, and Assemblymember Jim Wood have all put out statements of opposition, vowing to vigorously fight the legislation.

Wood saying he plans to introduce an assembly resolution “condemning the action.”

McGuire vowing to “never back down when it comes to protecting California’s coast.”

Huffman saying the administration is “putting our fisheries, beaches, and coastal economies at risk to enrich the fossil fuel industry.”

Humboldt County has previously been eyed for oil and gas potential.
