Arcata City Council holds continuation hearing for the Village Student Housing Project

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Humboldt State University students are returning to Arcata as the Fall semester is set to begin next week. But one common problem for students is the lack of housing.

Developer AMCAL hopes to change that with “The Village” apartment complex that would house 600 students.

The project is on the council agenda Wednesday night. The meeting begins at 6:00pm in the Council Chamber. A staff report recommends the council continue the public hearing, accept a presentation by the applicant and then make a final decision.

Before the meeting at 5:30pm, a vigil will be held outside of City Hall for Josiah Lawson. The former HSU student who was killed back in April 2017.

Lawson’s family and friends encourages everyone to come out and seek Justice for Josiah.
