EUREKA – Shoppers have a new place to go at the Eureka Waterfront.

Saturday was the grand opening of the Humboldt Marketplace located at 317 E Street.

The new store is a place for local farmers and businesses to come and sell their goods.

They hope to attract local residents and tourists to Old Town.

Soon the market will also start selling beer and wine.

“I would say the ultimate goal is to inspire others,” said owner, Patty Niskey, “We want to be able to inspire others to do the same. There’s a lot of individuals here who have been very, very successful with their local products and productions and we need to support the ones who are still struggling.”

First customer

“We first came in just to look,” said the marketplace’s first customer, Veronica Schneekluth, “We ended up with caviar and little crackers and almond candies and coffee all locally made. A little bit of everything. We’re very excited to have it here. To have one stop shopping is amazing.

The market will be open from 10AM-8PM daily.
