A wanted felon is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase.
Around 4 Saturday afternoon, a Humboldt County Sheriffs deputy was traveling southbound on Highway 101 near the vista point in McKinleyville. It was there where he noticed a blue Ford Focus occupied by Conte Watson who had a felony warrant for his arrest.
When the deputy tried to make a traffic stop, Watson sped off. The chase led through the streets of McKinleyville and came to an end when Watson crashed the car into a residence on the 18 hundred block of Fischer Road.
The home sustained minor damage. As for Watson. He was arrested for evading a peace officer and a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Watson is lodged at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
