Local blood bank reminds residents to donate in case of emergencies

EUREKA – A local blood bank reminds us Monday that dangerous incidents can never be predicted, and so a great time to donate is now.

During Hurricane Harvey in Texas, the Northern California Community Blood Bank was able to help by sending red blood cells and platelets for victims.

They were given a call Monday by the Blood Centers of America, who determined Las vegas does have enough blood on their shelves for the time being, however, they say they “will be in contact with the disaster task force and ready to help should the need arise.”

In order to stay prepared, you can donate to the Northern California Community Blood Bank at their main location in Eureka Monday through Saturday, as well as at a variety of events and locations where their blood mobile makes stops.

Specific times and locations can be found, here: http://www.nccbb.net/index.html
