Local cannabis business settles in Clean Water Act lawsuit

HUMBOLDT COUNTY – Humboldt Baykeeper and a local cannabis business ‘Royal Gold’ came to a settlement in a federal lawsuit regarding storm water pollution from the company’s former mill site near Blue Lake.

The company was found to be releasing too many pollutants in their storm water to be in compliance with the Clean Water Act.

As a result, the company has agreed to donate $10,000 dollars to the Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation, and $30,000 dollars to the Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment, to go towards for local water programs.

They also say they will invest in upgrades for future Clean Water Act compliance.
