Trinidad to adopt cannabis ordinance, sign letter of support for Strawberry Rock trail plan

TRINIDAD – Trinidad will likely adopt its cannabis ordinance and throw support behind a local group’s efforts to establish a trail to Strawberry Rock.
Trinidad’s cannabis ordinance would prohibit personal cultivation outdoors and any commercial activity within city limits. It’s set for a second reading and adoption.
And the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust is asking the city for a letter supporting its plan to purchase trail easements leading to Strawberry Rock. Green Diamond owns the timber land that is a popular area for hiking even though it’s private property.
If the trust can secure approximately $800,000 in funding… Strawberry Rock, the trail leading to it, and a twenty-four acre redwood grove would be preserved for public use.
Council will weigh whether or not to sign a letter of support for the plan at Wednesday night’s meeting that begins at 6:00p.m. in Town Hall.
