ARCATA – When balancing the Humboldt State Athletics budget football isn’t the only sport on the chopping block.

The Women’s Rowing Team was competing today but out of the water. They were at the campus quad getting the word out; the program could be eliminated to balance the budget that is in the red.

The program has been very successful over the years with two national titles, their dedication speaks for itself.

For the rowers, this decision will impact their future here at HSU.

President Lisa Rossbacher was scheduled to make her decision on Dec 1 on the future of athletics but that could change. Rossbacher is out of town dealing with a family matter.

And we’re told if a decision isn’t announced tomorrow it should come early next week.
