Fortuna football returns after winning State Championship

FORTUNA- Just as it left the Friendly City last week, Fortuna football returned with another police escort. But this time they entered as Division 5A State Champions.

The community gathered Monday evening along Main Street to welcome back the champs. Members from the Fortuna City Council and Humboldt County Board of Supervisors both honored the team and coaches.

Fortuna won the section championship and the Nor Cal final before reaching the big game. It was in Anaheim on Saturday night where they came away with a 54-33 victory over Katella to claim the top prize.
