Signatures needed for Keep California Safe Act

EUREKA., Ca (KIEM)- The petition known as the Keep California Safe Act of 2018 is still in need of signatures.

The petition includes law enforcement, business owners and public safety leaders who are working to fix three major problems. A few things on the initiative are to reform the parole system and tighten penalties. Reform theft laws, and expand DNA collection for those convicted of drug, theft, and domestic violence related crimes.

California Assembly Bill 109, Proposition 47 and 57 were intended to be used towards school programs and mental health facilities, but those in favor of the keeping California safe act feel it’s done more harm than good.

Right now the petition is on track to 500,000 signatures from the entire state. The is the first week of May.
