Four Coast Guard members honored with medals for saving life

McKINLEYVILLE., Ca (KIEM)– Four Humboldt Bay aircrew members are recongnized today, after successfully rescuing a stranded hiker near Crescent City.

The Ceremony was held in McKinleyville and involved friends family and a visit from the 11th District Coast Guard Commander.

The coast guard air medal was presented to Lt. Jacob Dorsey, Petty Officer 1^st class Nicholas Gardner, Petty Officer 2^nd class Jeff Bothman and the coast guard commendation medal to Lt. Edwin Forteza. The grandfather whose grandson was rescued was also there to personally thank the four crewmen.
