Fortuna City Manager to serve jail time following two DUI arrests

FORTUNA, CA. – Fortuna City Manager Mark Wheetley will serve a jail sentence for driving with alcohol in his system.

On Tuesday, Wheetley was sentenced to probation for three years, and fifteen days in the Humboldt County Jail.

Wheetley was last arrested in July, after speeding on New Navy Base Road near Samoa, where he was arrested for suspected DUI.

He has a previous DUI arrest from 2016 near the same area.

Fortuna City Council is scheduled to hold a closed session ‘Public Employee Discipline’ meeting Wednesday afternoon at 3:00.
