Meet EPD’s Newest K9, Max

The Eureka Police Department family just got bigger. They are pleased to announce their newest addition, K9 Max, a two-year-old German Shepard Mix.

Officer Christiansen and Max are now the second K9 team to join the EPD. They’ve spent the past couple of months training with Golden Gate K9 in Santa Rosa.

Max is trained in apprehending criminal offenders along with meth, heroin, and cocaine. Officer Christiansen tells us it is a constant learning process and the training never ends.

The department plans to expand the K9 program in the future. All donations can be made to the Eureka Police Department K9 donation fund.
