Fortuna, Ca., (KIEM) Family and friends had nothing but good words to share about Alex Bieniek, even after his life changed drastically two years ago.

“Alex is incredible,” Megan Katri, a childhood friend of Alex, shared.

“He is just such a blessing,” caregiver of Bieniek, Melanie Katri, said. “He has such an amazing spirit about him that God has given him, it’s just a beautiful thing,”

The 26 year old, Fortuna resident was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2016 with MDS, Myelodysplastic Syndrome. In 2017 the MDS progressed into AML, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. In 2017 Alex started his fight against cancer.

This year, the next step for Alex and his family is to go to Envita Medical Center in Arizona. The out-of-state visits will cost over $7,000 and medical insurance for the state of California will not cover the medical expenses.

The Bieniek family seeks the community’s help. You can donate to ‘Alexs fight’ through Lifehouse Humboldt or send donations to Lifethouse Humboldt at 2734 Hubbard Lane Eureka, California.
