38-Year-Old motorcyclist killed in Garberville crash identified by CHP

Garberville, Ca., (KIEM)- Monday night, just before 6:00 p.m. A motorcycle drifted off of Briceland Road, hitting a tree. The driver, now identified as 38-year-old Brian Hemphill, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The collision remains under investigation, as CHP officers say they still don’t know how Hemphill lost control of the 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle he was riding. Alcohol and drugs could still be a factor in this crash.

Telegraph Creek Fire, Cal-Fire, Briceland Fire, City Ambulance of Eureka and the California Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
