Arcata Council makes split vote on Village Housing Complex, project fails

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The verdict is in. The Village Student Housing Project is no more after being considered for month and not everyone is thrilled with such decision.

In a special meeting, Wednesday morning, the Arcata City Council consisted of 4 members which led to a 2-2 vote.

Council members Susan Ornelas and Brett Watson abstained their votes while Paul Pitino and Mayor Sophia Pereira, also a council member, was looking to approve.

Since the project did not pass, Project Developer AMCAL, could come back with a new plan and proposal to submit to the city’s planning committee.

Until then St. Louis road will continue in its original state.
