Kitten dumped at Blue Lake gas station

BLUE LAKE- A 9 week-old kitten was dumped in a box at a gas station in Blue Lake over the weekend and is now recovering, thanks to community support. Travelers saw a man drop off the box at a Patriot gas station, before getting back in his car and driving off.

Knowing all veterinarians were closed for the day, they immediately took the kitten to Humboldt Animal Rescue Team, or HART, which is 100 percent volunteer based.

Their facility is at full capacity and funds are low, but the community stepped up with a Go Fund Me page to cover the costs of the weak and malnourished kitten.

Amanda Austin, with HART, tells us the kitten was covered in fleas, anemic, had an upper respiratory infection, and an abscess on the side of her face.
