EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – On Tuesday night at the regular Eureka City Council meeting, two members of the community were appointed to a Syringe Exchange Program Advisory Board.

Aaron Ostrom and Judy Sousa will fill those seats, and will serve alongside a public health official, a Eureka Police Department officer, and two representatives from HACHR.

This comes after months of controversy stemming from HACHR, or the Humboldt Area Center for Harm Reduction’s, needle exchange program.
