Increased funding for Crescent City Harbor depends on Measure C

DEL NORTE COUNTY – Voters in Del Norte County have a decision to make Election Day regarding increase funding for The Crescent City Harbor with Measure C.

If it passes it would increase the Transient Occupancy Tax on county hotels from 8 percent to 10 percent and mandate a 2 percent TOT tax on RV parks outside of Crescent City.

The revenue would go to paying down a $5.4 Million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that was used to rebuild the Inner Boat Basin following the Tsunamis in 2006 and 2011.

Del Norte County First District Supervisor Roger Gitlin is No on Measure C and thinks the Harbor should go in an alternative direction and develop a Marina.
