EUREKA, CA. (KIEM)-In hopes of accountability and transparency, local fishing groups are taking legal action against the Humboldt Bay Harbor Recreation and Conservation District…

The lawsuit was filed last month, by the Humboldt Fishermen’s Marketing Association, and Trinidad Bay Fishermen’s Association. Their objective, to use the legal system to protect the Woodley Island Marina from what they call “mismanagement” of funds and dredging. Ken bates, vice president of h-f-m-a says this is their last resort — and says the commission needs to be honest with how they are using time and funding.
