Arcata High graduate dies after fall from apartment building in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – A recent Arcata High School graduate is killed in a tragic fall.

19-year-old Joia Simpson fell from the 10th floor of an apartment building in Minneapolis early Thursday morning. Simpson was just starting her college career at the University of Saint Thomas.

While celebrating Halloween, she was at a party in the Dinkytown neighborhood, on the top floor of the Bridges apartment building, when she fell.

Minneapolis Police are investigating the cause of the fall, although they are treating the incident like an accident.

The school says Simpson was interested in studying business.
