
California Highway Patrol and Eureka Police Department are among local agencies who teamed with Eureka High School, for National School Bus Safety Week.
On a daily basis bus drivers encounter motorists who don’t pay close attention when red lights are flashing on a school bus, and take it upon themselves to go around the bus, putting students’ lives in jeopardy.
In an effort to improve pedestrian safety, CHP and EPD, conducted a safety operation with a focus on motorist who fail to stop for a school bus with red lights. Eight different officers, detectives, and two captains utilized both marked and unmarked cars during this operation.
