Body found in missing Eureka man’s burning van near Leggett

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- A body was found inside a burning van, covered in bullet holes, just south of Leggett Saturday afternoon. The van is registered to missing Eureka man.

The 2004 white Ford Econoline Van, registered to 58-year-old, Frank Pinckney, was seen on fire just after 1 p.m. on Saturday on North Highway 1.

An adult male was last seen fleeing the scene wearing a white jumpsuit and heavy logging style boots. The man’s legs appeared to be on fire, while running onto a private gated logging road South East of Highway 1.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s assistance with information related to the possible location of Frank Pinckney. They also ask for assistance or with information on the suspect fleeing the scene. He is a white male, in his 50’s, weighing around 180 lbs. He may have burn wounds to his legs.
