Hoopa schools go on lockdown after student found with firearm

Hoopa Valley, Ca., (KIEM) Hoopa Elementary goes on lockdown after a student is found with a firearm at the school. In a letter written to the Hoopa community on behalf of Hoopa Elementary Principal, Paula Wyant.  She writes that a student informed a staff member of a potential firearm on campus. A search was conducted and the firearm was located and taken to the chief of school safety. After an assessment, Hoopa Elementary and High school were put on lockdown. No student or staff were harmed and the firearm was not loaded.
