Lighting of America’s tallest living Christmas tree

Ferndale, Ca., (KIEM) The tallest tree in American stands firm in the quaint town of Ferndale.

Sunday night the Christmas tree was lit to officially bring in the holidays. Community members near and far gathered at the end of Main Street to experience the tree lighting. The Christmas tree was filled with colored lights placed by Ferndale’s volunteer firefighters.

After the lighting, the town continued to celebrate with music, entertainment, even snow. Ferndale’s Chamber of Commerce expressed that Ferndale comes alive during the holidays.

“Ferndale is magical during the holiday season. We have all kinds of great Christmas events,” said Paul Beatie, President of Ferndale Chamber of Commerce. “And it’s such a warm friendly place and we want welcome everyone to come down and have a great time the way Christmas used to be and this is the way that it should be.”

Members of the community were given an option of sweets and hot cocoa to keep warm.
