Humboldt Bay Fire gives Christmas tree safety tips

As families start adding Christmas trees to their households, Humboldt Bay Fire would like to remind all residents to take extra precautions during this time of year.

Fire Chief, Bill Reynolds, with Humboldt Bay Fire tells us Christmas trees can pose great fire threats. And he encourages residents to check on their trees on a regular basis. He says to make sure they have adequate clearance from heat sources, such as fire places and heaters. And to only use approved lighting for decorations. Reynolds adds to regularly water your trees, as dried out trees pose a greater fire danger.
