Children with special needs share moment with Santa

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The Bayshore Mall teamed up with Autism Speaks and Families Advocating Autism Now for the first-ever Sensory-Friendly Santa event.

Sunday morning children and guardians made their way to the center of the mall to share a magical moment with Santa, a way for children with special needs to make memorable holiday memories.

What makes this experience a tad bit different is that it’s a sensory-friendly event, meaning it’s specifically catered to children with autism. Sensory-friendly events allow children and families a comforting environment, in this case, prior to public hours.

Keepsake Santa photo packages were also available for purchase during the event.

Sensory-Friendly Santa is held in partnership with Autism Speaks.
