Humboldt Bay Fire responds to power outage

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)- Now yesterday’s storm left many in the area without power for hours.

Strong winds snapped a power pole on Elk River road at around 11:30 yesterday morning.

More than 3400 PG&E customers were initially left in the dark. And another 600 plus also lost power in the Hoopa area. Humboldt Fire’s station 2, on Herrick Avenue had to go to a backup generator.

Now Humboldt Bay Fire told Redwood News they’re not aware of any property damage as a result of the storm. They do urge the public that if you see downed power lines, call first responders immediately.

As of today PG&E tells us that power has been restored to all customers in the county.
