Eureka, Ca (KIEM) – Reduce re-use and recycle, well the City of Eureka wants to take that one step further. Part of the cities vision for the upcoming years. Clean up our bay, rivers and streets, by lowering the amount of un-recyclable material used in our community. It’s similar to Arcata’s Zero Waste Action Plan.

Starting in January, Eureka’s City Council, the community service department along with Eco eureka, will be implementing policy and incentives to encourage people to lower the amount of waste we send to the landfill.

There many different steps that can be taken to reduce waste. For example bring your own coffee cup when getting coffee, bring shopping bags to the grocery store, use rags instead of paper towels, and if possible buy in bulk.
