Commercial crab season to remain delayed north of Patrick’s Point

EUREKA- After delay after delay, there is some good and bad news for the local crab industry.

The opening of the commercial dungeness crab season north of Patrick’s Point to the Oregon boarder won’t open next Tuesday due to the elevated levels of domoic acid. The delay will remain until the there is no longer a significant risk to the public.

The season will open south of Patrick’s Point to the Mendocino-Sonoma county line. Vessels have a 72-hour window and can start setting their gear on Saturday.
