Second District Supervisor Lori Cowan selected as Chairwoman

CRESCENT CITY, Ca., (KIEM)- The Del Norte County Board of Supervisors select a new Chairwoman at their meeting Tuesday.

Second District Supervisor Lori Cowan takes the gavel after Third District Supervisor Chris Howard served as Chairman for two years.

Also at the meeting, they unanimously approved a temporary ordinance banning Commercial Cannabis Activity within Yurok areas of traditional tribal cultural affiliation outside of the coastal zone.

After Del Norte Supervisors had a lengthy discussion regarding a general plan amendment for outdoor Commercial Cannabis Cultivation in Timberland, they decided to have the Community Development Department to do a study on potential Environmental issues that may come up.
