City of Eureka offers new dispatcher trainee program


EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – If you’re looking for a career change. With the training to boot, you might not have to look farther than the City of Eureka. That is because the city has approved a new plan to increase the number of¬†emergency dispatchers.

Last year, the Eureka Police Department was down about ten positions. That’s according to Eureka’s City Manager. But on July 1st of 2018, Eureka City Council Approved a five percent wage increase for both police officers and dispatchers. Now the city has gone forward with a communications dispatcher trainee program to improve recruitment and retention of dispatchers.
