City of Eureka offers new dispatcher trainee program

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – If you’re looking for a career change. With the training to boot, you might not have to look farther than the City of Eureka. That is because the city has approved a new plan to increase the number of emergency dispatchers.

Last year, the Eureka Police Department was down about ten positions. That’s according to Eureka’s City Manager. But on July 1st of 2018, Eureka City Council Approved a five percent wage increase for both police officers and dispatchers. Now the city has gone forward with a communications dispatcher trainee program to improve recruitment and retention of dispatchers.
