Over 600 pounds of marijuana seized and destroyed

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office: Tuesday at about 2 p.m. HCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop on a truck pulling a trailer at the Highway 101 Miranda Exit. The initial reason for the stop was for a tinted windows vehicle code violation.

During the traffic stop, deputies learned that the driver was hauling a large amount of processed marijuana in the attached trailer. The marijuana was not involved in the State Track and Trace program and was not labelled as required by state law. Deputies seized the marijuana and are forwarding the case to the District Attorney’s Office for review of charges. No arrests were made at the time.

Wednesday, deputies weighed the seized marijuana. It weighed in at just over 630 pounds. The marijuana is now set to be destroyed.
