Bomb Squad Investigating Suspicious Bottles on street in Eureka

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Reports of two suspicious bottles discarded on the street in Eureka causes a scare for residents.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Myrtle Avenue between Lucas and 18th Street around 1 PM Saturday afternoon; after receiving a call reporting two suspicious bottles, one of which has reportedly exploded.

Sargent Greg Allen of the sheriff’s office told new sources that the bottles were holding some type of acid, but it has not yet been determined what exactly the chemical was.           

The Humboldt County Bomb Squad, HCSO, and Humboldt Bay Fire were all on scene and at this time, there are no suspects and deputies are investigating the incident.

Myrtle Avenue was reopened to traffic shortly after the bottles were removed.
