Board of Supervisors Unanimously Vote to Approve Temporary Moratorium

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to pass a temporary moratorium.

The moratorium would be in effect for forty-five days. The Board could extend to moratorium for up to two years.

In November, the Farm Bill was passed, which created a pathway for individuals interested in growing hemp for commercial use.

So far, there are no state regulations for industrial hemp.

The agricultural commission is required to return to the Board with a plan in thirty-days, on how industrial hemp would be cultivated.
