PG&E uses drones to inspect power lines and towers

Over the next week, PG&E crews will be working in Mendocino, Humboldt, Lake, and Trinity Counties to inspect power lines and towers. This is in response to the recent wildfire prevention plan proposed by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Crews will inspect about 50,000 transmission structures across more than 5,500 line miles. In addition to the drones, PG&E will also use light detection technology. The inspections are part of PG&E wildfire safety efforts.

Drone crews are expected to fly through Saturday the 12th between 7 am and 4 pm.
