Sea-Level Rise Bike Tour kicks-off Bike Month Humboldt

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – Calling all bike riders, Sunday was an early kick-off to Bike Month Humboldt with the Sea-Level Rise Bike Tour.

The month of May is when the official Bike Month Humboldt starts. But a group of bikers wanted to ride five miles on Sunday to promote the benefits of riding a bike. The City of Arcata Engineer leads the tour, and they’re just getting started.

“To encourage and promote bicycling as a form of transportation, an alternative to cars. When it’s convenient for people to try to consider it more, and for recreation and fun, there’s a lot of families that join in. That’s the main thing. And to help promote more bike facilities being built around, to make biking more convenient and safer,” said Dave Ryan one of the organizers of the bike tour.
