Wildfire Preparedness Week declared in California

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) With wet weather, comes new crops that can eventually turn dry-up, causing a potential fire hazard.

That’s why CAL Fire is gearing up for wildfire preparedness week. Governor Gavin Newsom dedicated May 5-11 to fire preparedness for homeowners and the community.

CAL Fire said home and property safety preparation should include creating a defensible space by clearing vegetation 100-feet or more away from your home and using fire-resistant landscaping to help stop the spread of wildfire.
