UPDATE: The Future of the Potter Valley Project

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – The dams in the Eel River are in the process of being re-licensed. The Potter Valley Project is a hydropower facility, which diverts about 60,000 feet of water from the Eel River into the Russian River.

PG&E owns those dams. But back in January the utility company declared bankruptcy, withdrawing from the project. The next steps is to create a Two Basin Solution.

In order for the dams to be re-licensed, a notice of intent must be declared by July 1st.
