EUREKA, CA (KIEM)- Two Eureka residents are arrested after a traffic stop nets weapons, and the illegal sales of prescription narcotics.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force along with other agencies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Herrick and Elk River Road.

The driver, 31 year-old Nathan Toews and passenger, 37 year-old Jennifer Burr were both detained. The task force said they searched the vehicle and found nearly an ounce of suspected cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, two firearms and dozens of illegally possessed pills.

They then searched burr’s king salmon residence located on the 6600 block of Third Street. It was there where agents say they found thousands of pills, hundreds of hypodermic needles and multiple firearms.

A juvenile at the location was released to child welfare services for his safety.

Both burr and Toews were arrested on suspicion for possession of controlled substances for sales and weapons violations.

Because of a medical condition, Toews was released from jail and his involvement in the investigation will be sent to the DA’s office for prosecution.
