One man dies, another injured in Arcata shooting

ARCATA, Ca (KIEM)-One man is dead and another injured after a shooting Sunday night in Arcata.

Arcata Police Chief Brian Ahern said four men from Eureka had arranged to sale marijuana to another man. They met at the intersection of Foster and Alliance Road just before ten.

The suspect demanded the marijuana and pulled out a handgun from his waistband and started firing at three of the victims.

Two of the men, in their late teens, were shot and transported to Mad River Hospital in Arcata. One man died and the other is expected to survive.

The male suspect fled on foot but could be associated with a green truck that was seen near the shooting scene. He is described as a white male, wearing grey sweat suit and a camouflage green jacket.  He is considered armed and dangerous.
