Eureka man arrested after drugs, stolen mail found during traffic stop

BLUE LAKE, Ca (KIEM)-A Eureka man arrested weeks ago for allegedly participating in the theft of $1 million dollars worth of jewelry from a Trinidad homeowner is yet again in trouble with the law.

A Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle Tuesday morning on Highway 299 near Blue Lake. The driver, 40 year-old Steven Buskirk, was arrested after deputies found over 34 grams of heroin and over two grams of methamphetamine.

According to the sheriff’s office, officials are now looking at his potential involvement in another burglary in Ferndale after stolen items from that scene were also located in his vehicle.

Buskirk was booked on suspicion of possession and the transportation of a controlled substance for sales, stolen property, committing a felony while out on bail and violation of probation.

Buskirk was arrested earlier in the month after jewelry and other items taken from a Trinidad burglary were found at his eureka residence.
